About the First Year Associate Experience

 

First Year Associates at Mintz are hired into one of the firm’s offices and immersed into a practice area.  The firm’s Orientation & Training, “Base Camp” takes place in our Boston office and brings the full class together for a week of practical training and networking. First Year Associates are given formal mentors that can serve as a resource during their transition to the firm. It’s not long before First Year Associates know our lawyers, understand what we do, and are ready to hit the ground running after law school.

Collaboration with team members is an important component of this role. This role requires 60% in-office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Must be graduating with a J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Must be eligible to sit for the USPTO exam or already registered with the USPTO

  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including:

  • Prepare, review, and supervise high‑level submissions, filings, and responses before the FCC and other federal agencies.
  • Serve as a visible senior resource to clients, supporting both continuity and strategic growth.
  • Mentor associates and help shape team structure and training specific to wireless regulatory practice.
  • Support business development initiatives in wireless, mobility, infrastructure, and adjacent technology sectors.
